The alleged involvement of Belarus in the deportation of Ukrainian children falls under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, despite the fact that Minsk did not sign the Rome Statute. The spokesman of the court, Fadi el Abdalla, said this at a meeting at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

He emphasized that this could happen even though Belarus did not sign the Rome Statute.

"We are talking about the fact that such crimes could have been committed on the territory of Ukraine. That is, regardless of whether the children were brought to Russia or to another place, such acts may fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC, if the abduction itself was at least partially committed on the territory of Ukraine." Abdullah said.

In late September, human rights activists called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Belarus and Russia, citing evidence that hundreds of Ukrainian children were forcibly removed to Belarus during Russia's full-scale invasion.

Ukrainian human rights center Zmina informed On September 23, his experts, together with colleagues from Freedom House and the Ukrainian Regional Center for Human Rights, submitted a statement to the Hague Court in which they documented "political indoctrination and military re-education of Ukrainian children on the territory of Belarus".

Human rights activists said that documents and exclusive data confirm "participation of Belarusian agents in eradicating Ukrainian ethnic identity in children, turning them into enemies of their own people."

The report refers to 18 organizations in Belarus that were identified as being involved in the fact that at least 2 Ukrainian children aged 219 and older were subjected to forms of "discriminatory pressure".
