Most Ukrainians believe that the war may not end before the second half of 2027. At the same time, 60% of those surveyed are ready to endure as long as necessary. This is evidenced by results survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
According to the survey results, only 21% of Ukrainians expect the war to end at least by the end of this year. And only another 15% expect the war to end at least in the first half of 2027.
Instead, 45% expect the war to end either in the second half of 2027 or later. As before, a significant proportion (19%) has no definite opinion on this issue.
Thus, Ukrainians are mostly prepared for the war to continue for a long time.
Since the beginning of 2026, there has been a decrease in the share of those who are ready to endure war as long as necessary — from 65% in January to 48% in April.
However, between April and July-August, the indicator returned to almost its previous level. So, now 61% answered that they are ready to endure as much as necessary.
At the same time, 20% of respondents now mention a shorter period (several months to half a year) (in April it was 29%).
At the same time, compared to April, there is a tendency in all regions to increase the share of those who are ready to endure as long as necessary. In particular, in Kyiv, the indicator has increased from 61% in April to 69% now (and this is against the backdrop of an intensive campaign of attacks on the capital).
