US President Donald Trump said he was disappointed with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the lack of progress in peace agreements regarding the war in Ukraine. About this Trump said during a joint press conference with Secretary General Mark Rutte.
According to Trump, if the parties do not reach an agreement within 50 days, the US will impose new secondary tariffs.
"We spent about $350 billion on this war with Russia and Ukraine. And we want it to end," — Trump emphasized.
He emphasized that he does not consider this war his own: "This wasn't my war, this was Biden's war. I'm trying to get you out of it."
Trump also noted that he expected a peace deal with Putin two months ago, but it didn't happen.
"It looks like this won't happen," he added.
In this regard, Trump promised to introduce tough economic measures: "We will impose secondary tariffs if we don't reach an agreement within 50 days. It's very simple, and they will be at 100. And that's how it will be."
He also expressed hope that such measures could be avoided, but stressed that the US was ready to act tough.
