US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with the Finnish government in Helsinki on Friday and spoke with speech regarding the security situation in Europe. He also noted that the West will continue to support Ukraine.
In his speech, Blinken expressed hope for a long-term peace plan for Ukraine. He did not present specific ways of establishing peace in Ukraine, but the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that the principle of peace negotiations will be respect for the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine.
During his visit to Helsinki, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Russia suffered a "total strategic failure" when it decided to go to war against Ukraine.
"Putin's aggressive war against Ukraine is a strategic failure," Blinken said.
The Secretary of State emphasized that the United States, together with its partners and Ukraine, is working to find a peace plan that will end the war.
"We will support the efforts of Brazil, China or any other country if they help find a way to a just and lasting peace," he added.
Blinken emphasized that the West will continue to support Ukraine. The USA will help Ukraine build the "army of the future".
"This means a modern air force, integrated air and missile defense, modern tanks and armored vehicles, a national capacity for the production of ammunition, as well as training and support to strengthen the combat readiness of forces and equipment," Blinken added.
According to him, negotiations between Kyiv and the Kremlin can only take place from the position of a strong Ukraine, capable of defending itself against any aggression. Therefore, investments in a strong Ukraine, Blinken believes, do not harm diplomacy in any way, but pave the way for it.
