In Italy, the design of a spacesuit for a mission to the moon by Prada was presented

Prada

The fashion house Prada, in collaboration with the commercial space company Axiom Spac, has created a new design for the spacesuit that will be worn by astronauts during the upcoming mission to the moon. The presentation took place during the International Astronautical Congress in Milan (Italy), write CNN.

Although the design is logo-free, it still features red accent lines on the forearms, waist and lifestyle system backpacks that echo the defining features of the Prada Linea Rossa sub-brand.

The suits also have a number of innovative functions - thanks to special shoes, participants of missions to the moon will be able to stay in open space for at least eight hours a day.

The creators of the design claim that the spacesuits will be made of a white material that can reflect heat and provide protection against high temperatures and lunar dust.

In addition, the new clothing for astronomers has improved mobility, compared to previous models that were already used for trips to the moon.

At the launch, the suit's creators said Prada's expertise in textile production and sewing techniques helped "bridge the gap" between function and style.

"This is an innovative partnership. We combine engineering, science and art", said Russell Ralston, executive vice president of Axiom Space, during a press conference.

The presented suit model is suitable for both women and men.

During the presentation of the space suit, its authors said that it took several years to create. During this period, 10 specialists of the fashion house constantly traveled between Milan and the Axiom Space base in Houston (USA).

NASA's Artemis III mission is expected to land on the lunar surface in the second half of 2026, the first time since 1972. For the first time, a woman may participate in the next mission to the Earth's satellite.

"Today, anyone with money can go into space. Soon it will be available and people will be able to visit the moon. So I think we're just at the beginning of a new era.", said Prada Group Marketing Director Lorenzo Bertelli.
