OpenAI has introduced a limit on the number of requests in its ChatGPT chatbot after a viral trend on social media, in which almost everything was transformed into AI art in the style of the famous Japanese animation studio Ghibli.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on his X social media page that while it's fun to watch users' creativity in ChatGPT, the limitations are necessary.
"It's great to see how people are loving the images in ChatGPT, but our GPUs are melting. We're temporarily imposing some limits on the number of requests while we work on improving performance." he said.
"In addition, we are denying some generation requests that should have been allowed; we are correcting these issues as quickly as we can," he added.
At the same time, Altman did not name the exact terms of the restrictions.
