The iPhone model range has not changed radically for two years - from the moment when the iPhone 14 Plus replaced the 13 mini. According to industry data sources, by 2025, Apple will once again remove the extra iPhone from the lineup, replacing it with a new device.
It is reported that the new product will be called iPhone 17 Slim and will replace the Plus version, which does not have much demand. The redesign of this device in terms of weight will resemble the release of the iPhone X. At the moment, the following is known about the iPhone 17 Slim:
- A "much thinner design" with an aluminum construction rather than titanium like the iPhone Pro models.
- The 6,5-6,6-inch display is a cross between the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro Max.
- Changed camera unit, which for the first time will be located at the back in the center.
- Improved anti-glare screen coating.
- 24-megapixel front-facing camera versus 12 MP in the iPhone 14/15.
- 8GB of RAM compared to 6GB on the iPhone 15 Plus.
- Apple A19 processor.
- It is mentioned that in terms of positioning and cost, the 17 Slim will be a completely new product with a price tag higher than that of the iPhone Pro Max (starting at $1199). If that's the case, then the iPhone Slim could end up being the iPhone Ultra that's been rumored for a few years now.
The presentation of the iPhone 17 will take place no earlier than the fall of 2025. And in the spring, Apple should release a new budget iPhone SE, which is also waiting for a major redesign. In particular, the outdated 4,7-inch IPS display will be replaced by a 6,1-inch OLED display.
