Intel is considering selling its chip business

Intel

Michelle Johnson Holthouse and David Zinsner, Intel's interim chiefs who took over after Pat Gelsinger stepped down, have not ruled out selling the chip business. About this reported the Reuters.

During the Barclays conference, Holthaus and Zinsner were asked if the company's further integration of manufacturing and design was related to the success of the new 18A process, which is planned to be used to make flagship PC chips. Managers noted that in the event of failure of this technology, the sale of the manufacturing business is possible, although this decision does not depend on them.

As for Zinsner, he added that Intel is already separating the financial and operational activities of the chip manufacturing unit into a separate structure — Intel Foundry. This division works independently from other parts of the company and is preparing to create a separate operating board and implement its own software system for business processes.
