Google launches AI-powered “Try On” feature — revolutionizing online shopping

cinema

Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature called “Try On,” which lets you virtually try on clothes before you buy them. The feature is already available in the US through Google Search Labs, and users just need to upload a full-length photo of themselves.

How to designate TechRadarTo use the feature, you need to activate it in Google Labs, after which you can start searching for clothes in Google ShoppingBy clicking the "try on" button on the product image, in about 10 seconds you will get the result - how this clothing will look on you.

"It may not always be perfect, but at least it gives you an idea of how that bow will look on your body," — writes the author of the publication TechRadar.

However, this technology does not currently support all clothing categories. For now, shirts, pants, dresses, and skirts are supported. Sellers must register with the program to have their clothing available for fitting.

"I noticed that suits and swimsuits didn't work, but shorts, jackets, and coats were recognized well by the system," the observer notes.

The peculiarity of AI-fitting is how artificial intelligence adjusts clothes to the body: changes the pose, size and even shoes. The author of the article tells how he “tried on” replicas of Elvis Presley’s outfits from the 60s and 70s, and was amazed:

"I even had my shoes changed to match the suit, so I could see what I would look like as the King," The author shares his experience.

Although the system occasionally makes mistakes (for example, making legs look too thin or too smooth), the overall impression is positive. This innovation could be a breakthrough in the field of online shopping, as it helps to better assess whether a certain garment fits you.

What is particularly important is that such technology can reduce the level of product returns, which cost businesses significant resources.

"I almost always plan to return bold images before they arrive, but now I can evaluate them without risk," — the author adds.

In the future, Google may turn this feature into an AI-based personal stylist that will help you select looks and experiment with style without the need for a physical fitting.
