Apple presented a new compact Mac mini computer with an M4 chip. Previous rumors have been confirmed — the minimalist Mac has become even smaller and now it can be compared with Apple TV in size. About this reported the press service of Apple.
The Mac mini is only 5 inches (127 mm) long and wide, 50 mm high, and weighs 670 or 730 grams.
Despite its compact size, the device has all the necessary interfaces:
- on the front panel there are two USB-C ports and a 3,5 mm audio jack;
- Ethernet, HDMI and three USB-C / Thunderbolt ports are available at the back.
There are no more USB-A ports. The predecessor had only two Thunderbolt 4 ports and two USB-A ports. With the M4, you get just five ports — you lose USB-A, but you get an extra Thunderbolt port.
It is worth noting that the speed of the Thunderbolt ports will vary depending on the M4 processor selected. The regular M4 chip offers Thunderbolt 4, while the M4 Pro offers the highest bandwidth of Thunderbolt 5.
10 Gigabit Ethernet remains an optional upgrade for those who need it.

The new Mac Mini M4 supports ray tracing for the first time and has 16 GB of RAM in the basic version. However, it is offered in two versions that differ in processor.
The basic version with the M4 chip has 10 computing cores, 10 GPU cores, up to 32 GB of RAM. At the same time, the system based on the M4 Pro processor provides higher performance thanks to 12 or 14 CPU cores, 16 or 20 GPU cores and up to 64 GB of RAM. Storage reaches 8 TB.
The Mac mini with the M4 can support up to two 6K displays and one 5K display, and with the M4 Pro it can support up to three 6K displays at 60Hz for a total of over 60 million pixels.
Apple also included in Mac mini a new personal intelligent assistant — Apple Intelligence, which expands the possibilities of users to interact with the system while preserving the privacy of data.
The new Mac mini comes with the new macOS Sequoia, which includes features like iPhone Mirroring, which allows users to wirelessly interact with their iPhone, its apps, and notifications directly from their Mac.
The Mac mini is also said to be the first Mac with zero carbon emissions, in keeping with Apple's commitment to sustainability. More than 50% of the device's materials are recycled, including the aluminum of the case and elements on the boards.
Price
The price of the basic model with the M4 chip starts at $599, and the more powerful M4 Pro model starts at $1. And if you choose the most powerful version of the processor, the maximum memory and 399-gigabit Ethernet, the price will be $10.
