China has announced controls on the export of some aviation equipment and technology. This is reported Reuters.
China will control the export of some aviation and space components from July 1. During this statement, the Ministry of Commerce of China referred to the need to protect the country's national security and interests.
How the export will be carried out
Those wishing to export items including aerospace structural components and hardware and software used in engine manufacturing, among others, will be required to apply for an export license, which must be jointly signed by China's Customs Administration and the Central Military Commission.
"In order to protect national security and interests, as well as to fulfill international obligations, such as non-proliferation, with the approval of the State Council and the Central Military Commission, it was decided to introduce export controls on the following items," — said the statement of the Ministry of Commerce of China.
The list of restrictions includes, in particular:
- gas turbine engines
- molds for making parts of spacesuits
- hardware and software used to make them
- advanced polymers used in bulletproof clothing.
Exporters will have to apply to the Commerce Department for an export license, the notice said, which will decide whether the item in question may have a "dual-use" military application.
