A study of 1,2 million Danish children found no link between childhood vaccinations and autism, asthma or any other diseases. Although scientists have previously stressed the safety of vaccines, some parents still have doubts about them because of the aluminum salts they contain.
A new study has confirmed that the amount of these salts children receive from vaccinations is not enough to harm their health. Research published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Although previous studies have shown the safety of most vaccine components, one of the main arguments of anti-vaccinationists is the content of aluminum salts in vaccination preparations. This component of vaccines is an adjuvant, that is, a substance without its own immunogenic effect, which enhances the effect of other vaccine components. Previous studies in animals and small samples of children have indicated an increased risk of allergies, autoimmune and neurological diseases due to exposure to aluminum salts.
Therefore, the scientists decided to use a database of children vaccinated between 1997 and 2020 to assess the safety of vaccines containing aluminum salts. The researchers calculated the total dose of aluminum salts received by children by the age of two and compared it with the frequency of various diseases in these children. As it turned out, vaccinated children had no higher, and in some cases even a slightly lower risk of developing 50 chronic diseases. Receiving more vaccines was not associated with a higher risk of diseases, which once again confirmed the absence of a connection between them.
Scientists explain this by saying that children receive such small amounts of aluminum salts during vaccination that some studies have not even found an increase in aluminum concentration in the blood of infants after vaccination. The same studies that revealed the neuro- and immunotoxic effects of aluminum were conducted on laboratory animals that were regularly and for a long time administered significant doses of aluminum.
