The court sentenced Russian actor and Putin regime supporter Volodymyr Mashkov in absentia to 10 years in prison for calling for the seizure of Ukraine and confiscated a 100 m² apartment in an elite district of Odessa, reports SBU
"Thanks to the evidence base of the Security Service, Russian actor Volodymyr Mashkov, who praises the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, was sentenced to 10 years in absentia. He also had an apartment with an area of 100 m² in an elite area on the coast of Odessa confiscated," the report says.
The case was considered in a special court proceeding in the absence of the accused, since Mashkov lives on the territory of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that Mashkov is among the main Kremlin propagandists. He repeatedly spoke at mass rallies in support of Russia's war against Ukraine, calling for missile attacks on civilian infrastructure.
In December 2023, the actor was appointed co-chairman of Putin's election headquarters in the illegal "elections" of the president of the Russian Federation. Then Mashkov traveled around Russia and the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine, where he praised the actions of the Russian occupation groups.
The court found Mashkov guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
- Art. 436 (war propaganda).
Currently, measures are being taken to bring him to justice.
