Another modern gate valve was installed by Infoksvodokanal along with new pipes on Yevhena Chykalenko Street in Odessa. It is reported that such shut-off valves are used to partially or completely block the flow of water, for example, in case of accidents, preventive maintenance, or to connect new branches to the pipeline.
The company reported that it is thanks to such mechanisms that it is possible to turn off water locally, for example, to several streets, while without them a significant area would suffer.
"Four new valves from the leading Austrian manufacturer HAWLE will be installed on this section of the water supply system. European quality and technological characteristics allow them to withstand considerable water pressure, guarantee a significant number of closing cycles and a service life of at least 4 years. The cost of just one such valve is about half a million hryvnias," — reported in Infoxvodokanal.
