Over the weekend, due to abnormally high air temperatures, record consumption of electricity was observed in Ukraine, which put a serious load on the country's energy system.
У press service NEC "Ukrenergo" reported that on Saturday, August 5, there was the highest maximum consumption for all summer weekends. The reason is abnormal heat and active use of air conditioners.
“The highest consumption peak was 10,7% higher than the previous weekend. For the power system, this is the capacity of more than 5 thermal power units, which were to be additionally switched on," the message reads.
The maximum consumption was 1,5% higher than on a working day Friday, which is not typical for a weekend.
"Such high consumption is a significant burden on the power system, as due to large-scale repairs at many power plants, the ability to attract additional capacity is significantly limited," the company said.

Use electricity sparingly:
— cool the room no lower than 23˚С;
— turn off powerful electrical appliances or use them alternately;
— postpone the use of electrical appliances to the morning or night hours of the day;
- turn off the lights when you leave the room.
