Great Britain will allocate £20 million to Ukraine: what will the funds be used for?

Funds will be used to restore and protect Ukraine's power system in winter

The United Kingdom has announced an additional £20 million to Ukraine to restore and protect its energy infrastructure. This is reported on British government website.

"This comes as the UK and Ukraine mark the first anniversary of a landmark 100-year partnership between the two countries in Kyiv today," — the statement emphasizes.

The British government states that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, including children, are now left without heating and electricity due to falling temperatures across Ukraine.

The new support announced today will help meet the urgent needs for heat and electricity for millions of families, children and the elderly, the partners are confident.

The funds will go towards repairs, restoration, protection and energy production to provide electricity and heat to homes, hospitals and schools in difficult winter conditions.

In addition to energy support, London announced the expansion of the school partnership program between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Over the next three years, 300 more schools will join the initiative, and in total about 54 thousand students from both countries will be able to take part in the program.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the 100-year partnership with Ukraine is a symbol of shared values ​​and long-term support.

London also emphasized that bilateral cooperation goes far beyond war and encompasses security, education, innovation, trade, and cultural exchanges aimed at a shared future for the two states.
