The state budget of Ukraine has received a tranche of 4 billion euros from the European Union at the expense of Russian frozen assets. This was reported by the press service Cabinet of Ministers.
The funding came as part of the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative. In total, the Ministry of Finance has already attracted €14 billion from the EU under the ERA program out of the planned €18,1 billion. Ukraine should receive the remaining funds by the end of the year.
The money can be used both for state budget expenditures in the social sphere and for the country's defense.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko in Telegram noted the symbolism of such a payment on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine.
"The tranche is secured by proceeds from frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia in the European Union and is an important signal for us about Europe's determination to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and provide long-term support," – the head of government indicated.
