National Bank of Ukraine introduced a large-scale package of easing currency restrictions, which came into effect on August 11, 2026. The main focus is on supporting individuals, but the innovations also apply to business and the financial sector. The NBU notes that these steps will not create risks for the currency market and are already included in the macro forecast.
Buying currency and investing: The limit for the purchase of non-cash foreign currency by the population has been increased to UAH 200 per month (previously it was UAH 50). Within this amount, it is now possible to purchase not only currency, but also non-cash bank metals and securities of foreign issuers.
Cash withdrawal: The limit for withdrawing cash from foreign currency accounts (both in Ukraine and abroad) has been increased to UAH 200 per day (versus UAH 100 previously).
Payment abroad and rental housing:
- The limit for payments from hryvnia accounts for goods, works and services abroad has been increased to UAH 200 per month (from UAH 100). Now, within this limit, you can also pay for housing rent. Such payments are allowed not only by cards, but also through transfers from account to account (for example, via the SWIFT system).
- The possibility of transfers from foreign currency accounts abroad (via SWIFT) for an amount of up to UAH 200 per month to pay for goods, works and services has been added.
- The existing limit of UAH 500 per month for paying for accommodation abroad with a currency card now also applies to paying for housing rent, as well as to transfers from currency accounts.
What has changed for business?
Cash withdrawals and corporate cards:
- Cash withdrawal limits for legal entities have been increased to UAH 200 per day (from hryvnia and foreign currency accounts in Ukraine and abroad).

- The limit for payments abroad for goods, works, and services from hryvnia corporate cards has been increased to UAH 400 per month.
Stimulating liberalization and charity:
- In addition to the current "donation" limit, an "additional" limit has been introduced, which will be formed at the expense of direct charitable contributions in favor of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard (made since August 10, 2026 and confirmed by the audit report of the "Big Four").
- Companies will be able to transfer their "investment" and "additional" limits to other legal entities from the same business group.
