In Ukraine, by the end of the week, restrictions on card-to-card transfers for individuals will be introduced as part of the fight against shadow schemes. About this said head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andrii Pyshnyi in an interview with Economic Truth.
According to the head of the NBU, there was talk of the need to introduce restrictions on outgoing P2P transfers at the end of May. This need is related to the fight against shady financial transactions, known as drops, when fraudsters buy personal data and open bank cards from ordinary citizens.
The Board of the NBU plans to consider the relevant decision by the end of this week.
"I think now we are finalizing the final decision, and next week, from August 12 to 18, we will consider it at the board." - said Pishnyi.
As the head of the National Bank noted, the announcement of restrictions "caused a flurry of criticism and misunderstanding."
"We held several meetings with volunteers, collected feedback. They showed how the design of the planned solution will enable banks to take into account the needs of volunteers, and answered questions. The degree of discussion has decreased. This means that we organically approach the adoption of the decision that the National Bank communicated", he added.
Pyshnyi said that in order to create additional tools for more effective combating of "drop" schemes, changes to the legislation are also needed.
