Canada has extended the order exempting Ukrainian goods from customs duties for another year, until June 9, 2026. About this announced Canadian Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne.
The decision is a continuation of the agreements reached by the Group of Seven (G7) countries last month in Banff, Alberta, where finance ministers and central bank governors unanimously supported Ukraine.
"Canada has reaffirmed its support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, including through military, financial and humanitarian assistance. Today's announcement reinforces that commitment, helping to support Ukraine's economy, and demonstrates Canada's determination to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine for as long as it takes," — said the Canadian Finance Minister.
Since the introduction of the duty exemption order on June 9, 2022, Canada has imported goods from Ukraine worth more than 35 million Canadian dollars ($25,6 million), with the amount of canceled customs duties amounting to 8,5 million Canadian dollars ($6,2 million).
It is expected that the extension of the order from June 10, 2025 to June 9, 2026 will allow Ukraine to save approximately another 1,2 million Canadian dollars ($876,5 thousand) in customs duties.
