Tymoshenko: Ukrainian gas will be enough for the heating season

If the managers of Naftogaz are already confidently saying that Ukraine is in for a difficult winter, this shows that they are going to once again profit from ordinary Ukrainians and export domestic gas abroad.

This belief was expressed by Yulia Tymoshenko, the head of the "Batkivshchyna" party, on the air of the "Edyny Novyni" information telethon.

Knowing all the balances of the gas industry, she claims, that Ukrainian gas is enough to provide Ukraine with natural gas even if it is -20°C outside.

"Today we extract 19-20 billion cubic meters of gas. We need 17 billion a year, taking into account that due to the war, production partially does not work, and people have left. Where are the officials going to put another 2 billion of our gas and talk about a deficit? If it is managed correctly, there will be no shortage. If we effectively support the coal industry and put at least 2,5 million tons in warehouses - and we have such an opportunity - there will be no energy imbalance!" Yulia Tymoshenko assured.

The politician explained that the production cost of domestic gas is approximately 3 hryvnias, and it can be sold to Europe for 3 dollars per cubic meter. In order to prevent the corrupt from carrying out this arrangement, she insists that the government and parliament take control of the export of Ukrainian gas.

"Officials from Naftogaz are going to export our gas so that certain private companies can make money from this difference, and for Ukrainians they will buy gas at $3 per cubic meter - and that's without VAT, transportation, etc. I believe that now the unanimously created special investigative commission in the parliament must work at full capacity and take control of every gram of Ukrainian natural gas," added Yulia Tymoshenko.

According to her, the authorities should do everything necessary to ensure that Ukraine survives during the winter war, and that the people do not suffer additionally.

"If the Zaporizhia NPP is permanently disabled by the occupiers, we need to stock up on additional coal. But if Ukrainian gas is not taken for export, but given to Ukrainians, the country will get through the winter normally," the politician is convinced.
