The net profit of banks in Ukraine amounted to UAH 106,1 billion in January-August 2024, which is 11,6% more than in the same period last year. About this informed Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Taxes and Finances, Danylo Hetmantsev, with reference to data from the National Bank.
In 2023, banks received 82,3 billion in net profit, paying 73,5 billion UAH in income tax.
In eight months of 2024, banks' net interest income amounted to UAH 152,78 billion (+18,2%). Return on bank capital (net profit to bank equity) on September 1, 2024 — 47,2% (before full-scale war on September 1, 2021 — 32,3%). The regulatory capital adequacy standard is 16,15% (by the end of 2024 it should be at least 8,5%).
During this period, banks were charged UAH 30,7 billion in income tax, which is almost the same as for the years 2017-2022 combined.
"Based, in particular, on these indicators, the Verkhovna Rada voted in the first reading for draft law 11416-d, which contains a norm on taxation of banks' profits at the rate of 50% (instead of 25%. — Ed.) for 2024." Hetmantsev wrote on social networks.
